What was the secret? They wanted to know, in a thousand different ways they wanted to know THE SECRET. And not one of them was prepared, truly prepared to believe that it had not so much to do with chemicals and zippy mental tricks as with that most unprofound and sometimes heart rending process of removing, molecule by molecule, the very tough rubber that comprised the bottom of his running shoes. - John L. Rite Aid Cleveland 10k Training: Week 7

Not much to say about this week.  The weather improved a little but we did get a bunch of snow, which made it tough to run in some areas where the sidewalks weren't cleared.  There is nothing more soul crushing than seeing unplowed sidewalks when you are deep into your long run.  Friday evening's 6.8 was supposed to be easy but just getting across the Hilliard Rd. bridge may have been the hardest workout of the entire winter.

At least things are starting to look up.  After a cold beginning it seems like the weather should start getting a little better this week.  I am also getting excited for the upcoming racing season.  Lots of people will be running Chili Bowl this weekend (fingers crossed for good weather).  My first race will be the Kent State Tune Up (running the 3k) in two weeks.  If nothing else it's exciting because I won't have to be checking the weather constantly and it will be fun to actually run at an all out effort and see if this winter's training is paying off!

Today is your last chance to win a free Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon race entry at Stephplus4.  There will be a new giveaway next week at Gorunjess!
